Goal 1 To be nationally and internationally recognized for its academic programs at all academic levels (Living the Vision Goal #1)
Objective 1 β Attract increasing numbers of well qualified students.
- Strategy 1 β Make presentations to NMSU honors college freshman year.
- Strategy 2 β Guarantee Graduate Assistant position to highest GPA student
- Strategy 3 β Provide support for students to publish with faculty yearly
- Strategy 4 β Develop a graduate school brochure and disseminate to National NSSLHA
- Strategy 5 β Update website to appeal to Generation Z students
Objective 2 β Enroll a competitive portion of in-state two year institutions, out of state, international and graduate students.
- Strategy 1 β Enroll at least one out-of-state student yearly
- Strategy 2 β Recruit International students to graduate program and enroll one in next three years
- Strategy 3 β Enroll at least 80% of the top 25 students admitted to graduate program
Objective 3 β Increase access to academic degree programs through distance education.

- Strategy 1 β 98% graduation rate for graduate cohort over 5 years

Objective 5 β Maintain excellent laboratory and clinical resources for training and teaching

Goal 2 To have high quality, diverse faculty, staff and student body at all academic levels (Presidentβs Goal 1)
Objective 1 – Increase diversity among students, staff and faculty
- Strategy 1 β Tenure current diverse faculty over next 5 years.
- Strategy 2 – Admit at least 5 bilingual students to graduate cohort yearly.
- Strategy 3 – Admit at least 5 culturally diverse students to graduate cohort yearly
- Strategy 4 β Retain current culturally sensitive clinic office secretary
- Strategy 5 β Hire one bilingual (Spanish) full time supervisor
Objective 2 – Attract and tenure faculty with terminal degree and provide competitive compensation packages

Objective 2 – Obtain increasing levels of external funding for research

Objective 3 – Develop and support nationally and internationally recognized interdisciplinary areas of excellence

- Strategy 2 β Develop area of excellence in Traumatic Brain Injury research for Wounded Warriors

Goal 4 To serve as an engine for economic, social, educational and community development (Presidentβs Goal #4 and #5)
Objective 1 β Increase education level and earning power of New Mexicans
- Strategy 1 β Increase number of graduate students by 3 each year over the next 5 years with accompanying clinic supervisor support
- Strategy 2 – Increase number of undergraduate Communication Disorder majors to 200 over next five years
Objective 2 – Increase technology transferred from University research and create active New Mexico businesses
- Strategy 1 β Transfer MRI / VP technology to be used by surgeons in cleft palate area
- Strategy 2 β Transfer expertise areas in working with hard of hearing/Deaf children to regional and national entities
- Strategy 3 β Transfer computerized learning principles to New Mexico schools and Speech and Hearing facilities
Objective 3 β Increase extension and outreach facilitating economic, social, education and community development
- Strategy 1 β Share college faculty supervisor with Las Cruces Public Schools paid by LCPS
- Strategy 2 β Partner with Rotary Clubs of Las Cruces to support student international experiences
- Strategy 3 β Establish NMSU Cleft Palate Clinic as independent clinic of excellence for community
- Strategy 4 β Expand and strengthen SNAP outreach in Southern New Mexico
- Strategy 5 β Develop Communications Disorders program as bridge to professional community for training through Tri Unity Conference.

Objective 1 β Increase the Endowment
- Strategy 1 β Increase the Garret Foundation by at least $5000 annually by alumni solicitation
- Strategy 2 β Solicit at least two large independent gifts of $50,000 plus yearly
Objective 2 β Appropriately allocate resources for instruction, research, search and administration
- Strategy 1 β Increase clinic revenues by $1000 yearly for 5 years by increasing prices and offering at least two summer camps
- Strategy 2 β Increase Farmer Fund by $1000 yearly by an annual holiday giving campaign

- Strategy 1 β Develop private practice incubator for communication disorders professionals to share revenues with the clinic to be used for student scholarships.
