Why we started

The ADC was created in 2019 to meet the very high demand for autism evaluations. The rate of autism has increased from 1 in 150 in 2000, to 1 in 54 as of 2016. Families in New Mexico were previously on evaluation wait lists for nearly two years before receiving a diagnosis. Increasing access to diagnosis is critical to accessing intervention earlier in life and increasing treatment outcomes.

How we are funded

The ADC is funded through a Research and Public Service Project grand from the NM Department of Higher Education and the NM Department of Health. We are housed within New Mexico State University.
